Stop Being So Moody!

              Everyone has those days when they are just in a bad mood. You may not be able to figure out where it came from and it may follow you through the day for no good reason. One of my favorite TV quotes describing a character is, “She’s been in a bad mood for about 40 years now”. Sometimes it feels like your bad mood will never go away.

              Is there a way to get rid of a bad mood? There are some tricks you can try, the first being to cut yourself some slack. Allow yourself to order out dinner instead of cooking from time to time. Ask a friend for help and support. Also, using your energy to help others can make a difference in turning around a bad mood. Try not to focus on the bad mood which can let more negative thinking bring you down even further.

              It is important to note that there is a difference between being in a bad mood and suffering from depression. Depression is a much more significant set of symptoms that can be treated through medication and therapy. However, if you feel like the character in that quote mentioned earlier, you may want to discuss your feelings with your doctor to see if your bad mood is an indication of something more serious.

              If you are in a bad mood, try accepting it for what it is. This happens to everyone from time to time and may have no explanation.
