Spring Allergy Season Is Here

Tree pollination begins earliest in the year, followed by grass pollination later in the spring and summer, and ragweed in the late summer and fall. Allergy symptoms include watery eyes, stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing, wheezing, and rashes.

Allergies can be triggered by summer activities; campfires, insect bites and stings and chlorine. Treatment depends on severity. Taking a daily antihistamine can help control and relieve allergy symptoms. Daily antihistamines include, Benadryl, Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin, and newer antihistamines come in formulas that have less drowsiness than Benadryl.

Essential oils have also been shown to be effective for treating allergies.

Avoidance of triggers; skip smelling of the flowers, prevent insect bites, limit contact time if allergic to chlorine.
