Happy Holidays from Main St. Psychiatry! This has been a year of growth for us as we continue to expand our services and provide our patients with innovative and compassionate mental health and addiction treatment. As we near the end of 2019, we look forward with hope and excitement as to what the next year will bring for our group and our patients.
We acknowledge that the holiday season is not always happy and hopeful for many people we serve and many individuals in our community. As such, here are a few tips to get thru the next couple of weeks if you are struggling with your mental health or addiction this holiday season:
Remember that you are in no way obligated to put on a “happy face” to please others in your life. If you are having a hard time, be honest with your loved ones and ask for help when you need it
For those struggling with substance abuse, have a plan in place to leave triggering situations such as holiday parties, as well as a supportive friend or family member with whom you can process your cravings/feelings
Gift giving is not the only way to show love and care to the important people in your life. If you do not have money to spend on gifts, do not overextend yourself! This will only lead to more stress and anxiety in the new year. Handmade gifts and thoughtful gestures often mean so much more than money can buy
Practice self-care! Learn to identify when you have reached your limit on these busy days and take a break to decompress, deep breathe, meditate, or any other activity that allows you to recharge and cope
In the spirit of self-care, Main St. Psychiatry will be closed from Tuesday December 24th thru Wednesday January 1st, opening for normal business hours on Thursday January 2nd; allowing our employees to enjoy time with loved ones and practice their own self-care this holiday season. To our patients and the community we serve, we wish you happy holidays and a blessed new year! We look forward to hitting the ground running in 2020!
Sincerely, the staff at Main St. Psychiatry
